I'd like your questions reframed for founders. I think the skills I acquired as a PM are especially valuable to me as a founder. AI has made me much faster with with outputs like design and code but AI will never be able to assess the emotional state of people and how feelings fluctuate like the wind which can determine outcomes. User insight, strategy, influence... Tie this to consumer and we have a niche that AI can never touch.
Totally agree, Tobias. I've been a founder and a product leader, and there's a ton of overlap, especially at product-centric companies. Founders come in from sales, marketing, product, or engineering, but the product mindset matters no matter where you start. You can see it in the most successful products.
Distribution hasn't changed either, and it's harder than ever. Being able to build a lot doesn't mean you can get it in front of people. The edge shifts from building to exactly what you're describing: tying the product to a real customer, and reading how they feel.
Love the founder framing, and the consumer angle especially.
I still think there are many ways to get our products in front of users without ad spend. It helps if you are the user also, you’ll think about distribution differently. I think this is crucial when launching an app in a crowded market. I won’t be running any of the usual conventional distribution plays shared by the masses. Gotta do it different.
